August Posting:

So, we have almost finished one five day week of school, and the students are commenting on how quickly the week has gone! The first week back, we were quite busy getting organized and settled in, but this week, students were fully immersed into the routines and learning activities. They are a great group of students who seem quite eager to learn. I look forward to working with them, and with you, this year!

Thank you to those of you who were able to come out to the Open House Night. It was great to see your faces again, and to have a chance to explain our program here, and what you should be expecting throughout the year. I provided some important information, but in case you would like a reminder- please find the necessary details below, and throughout our class blog.
On this class blog, you will find information about upcoming class events, photos, homework expectations, due dates for assignments and updates on what we are learning in each subject area. This website also has links to other important blogs such as the Specialist Teacher’s blogs, and helpful educational websites.
Please bookmark this link for easy access as this will be our main method of communication.
I am looking forward to our year together!
Sincerely,
Ms. Mountain

Important Notices:

Student Photos:

*4B Students will be having their photos taken at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 26th.
Children should be wearing their white school shirt. We want to ensure all children look their best. If parents would like to pack an extra shirt as a precaution, they can. *If students are used to wearing another shirt underneath their uniform, please ensure that it is white.

Extra Swimming in preparation for Carnival:

As a warm up for the upcoming Swim Carnival, we are going to go to the pool this Tuesday, August 27th in lieu of our normal PE on the climbing wall. Students need to bring a swim suit and a towel. Goggles are optional but a good idea and sunscreen is also highly recommended.

Swim Carnival:
August 30th, 12:45pm – 2:45pm Grades 4 and 5.
Gear required: bathers/costume, hat, water bottle, flip flops, SUNSCREEN, towel.
We are the brilliant BLUE team, so please bring some BLUE clothes to school to show your support!! It should be a great day of swimming and cheering!
Also, please let us know if you can volunteer to help guide students to their races that day.

*** August 30th is also a “Free Dress” day. Students are able to come to school wearing something other than their uniform. Since this is also our Swim Carnival day, they may want to consider wearing something BLUE to show their support for our team, and also, Blue will support the cause of “Water for South Sudan” which is the reason for the free dress day. Students are asked to donate 5RM (or more) to Water for South Sudan that day.

Room Parent Sign-up:
We are still looking for volunteers to be the 4B room parent. If you are interested, please send me an email to let me know. If you would like more information, I can pass the details on to you.
